Hamilton Record
Death of Early Settler
The passing of D. A. Mason last Saturday morning March 4, at two o'clock takes from the county one of the earliest settlers and a good man. Mr. Mason had been in failing health for several months, but was seriously ill only about ten days, death occurring at the family home near Jonesboro where he had been living some 29 years.
Burial was had at the Bullman Cemetery Sunday morning at ten o'clock Rev. W. J. Whitley of the Methodist Church of which he was a devout member, conducting the religious ceremony. The remains were followed to the grave by many friends who loved and mourned the, who so long had lived, labored and served his neighbors so well.
Mr Mason who was sixty six years of age is survived by his wife, five sons, Gilbert, Archie, Earnest, Willis and Crockett Mason; two daughters Mrs. Fannie McAnelly and Mrs. Pearlie Phillips, all living in the Jonesboro country. To all of these, whose sorrow is heavy and to the friends who will so sadly miss one who never failed them in joy or sorrow, the record would offer the consolation of sincere sympathy and bids them find solace in the blessed promises of God for a Joyous reunion in the Heavenly home.*******************************************
