1927 - 2005SPRINGFIELD - Dorothy M. "Dot" (Desrosiers) Lucius, 78, of Springfield, died peacefully on Sunday, October 2, 2005 at the Mary Lyon Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Hampden. She was born in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield on March 17, 1927, a beloved daughter of the late Fred and Loretta (Daigle) Desrosiers. She graduated with honors from Classical High School in Springfield, and worked as a secretary for many years. Dorothy loved gardening, cooking, reading and taking care of her family. She is survived by her much loved husband of 55 years, Richard Lucius of Springfield; and three daughters, Anne Farrington and her husband Robert of Belchertown, Elizabeth Ciotti and her husband Ronald of Enfield, NH, and Lynne DePaulo and her husband Stephen of Wallingford, CT. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Bobby, Caitlyn, Geoffrey, Meghan, Gina, Kelly and Nicky. She is also survived by her brother, George Desrosiers and his wife Mary Lee of Columbia, SC; and her wonderful, devoted cousin, Clara Desotelle of Agawam, who was like a sister to her. She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Abby. Dorothy will be remembered for her quiet intelligence and for her wonderful devotion to her family. There are no visiting hours and burial services will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Sampson Family Chapels of Springfield. The family thanks the staff at Mary Lyon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Dr. Karen Hoyt for their kind and compassionate care during the course of Dorothy's illness. Memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy's name to the Mary Lyon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 34 Main Street, Hampden, MA, 01036.
