Ross Ray Dies Here
Ross Ray, 64, of 701 East Dean, died at his home Wednesday morning following a brief illness. Born at Youngsport on Dec 3, 1894, Ray made his home in San Angelo for 30 years. He was a retired barber and returned to make his home in Killeen three years ago. He is survived by his wife and one son, Maclin Ray, who is with the Seventh U.S. Army in Hanau, Germany. Other survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Henry Berry of Coleman and Miss Zetha Ray of Killeen, and one brother, Troy Ray of Temple.
Funeral arrangements are pending the arrival of his son from Germany and Chanslor-Young Funeral Home is in charge.
(Notice in next day newspaper indicated funeral would be 3 pm Saturday at the Killeen Church of Christ.)

From Lawrence Co. MO History, an article written by descendant James E. Freeman:Richard T. Cowan enlisted in the Confederate Army on 1 Sept 1862. He was a 1st Lieutenant in Company G, 8th Missouri Infantry Regiment (Mithcells). Following his service he lived for 5 years in Iron County. He returned to LawrenceCounty in 1870 and was one of the trustees when Pierce City was incorporated in 1871.
In 1872 he moved to Ritchey, MO and engaged in mercantile business until 1884. Richard moved to Washington Territory in 1884 and established a store and reat estate office at Camas, where he remained until 1895. He served while in Washington on the State Legislature beginning in 1893; he was also a county commissioner (4 years) and Postmaster of Camas (2 years). He returned to Lawrence County, near Bowers' Mill, in 1895.
Mr. Cowan was Presbyterian, several times an elder, a Democrate and a Charter Member of the Masonic Lodge (Dacatur No.400) of Pierce City. He died 26 July, 1895 and is buried near Ritchey in a small family cemetery.
R.T. Cowan acted as Township Assessor of Lawrence County from 1858 through 1860.
Margaret Corrilla Eidson was born on 9 Oct 1835 in Madison co., MO. She died on 11 Jun 1908 in Washington. She married Richard Tankersley Cowan on 11 Feb 1858 in Barry Co., MO.

Paralysis Caused Death of a Well known Farmer Living Southwest of Denton
J.G. Cowan, living four miles southwest of Denton, died at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The cause of death was paralysis with which he had been affected for the past sixteen days. Until Friday only one side was afflicted, but Friday evening he became totally paralyzed. The remains were buried Monday at the old Dalton cemetery. Mr. Cowan leaves a wife and several children to mourn his death.
