James Carter was born 30 September 1862 at Sandlick and died 28 May 1917 of
pernicious anemia and is in the Carr Cemetery along with his wife. Like
Thomas, he was a physician. Alice Elma Walker was born 4 July 1867 just down
the road on Straight Creek back behind the current location of the Straight
Creek Missionary Baptist Church; she outlived Carter by many years and died
at home 18 January 1957. They were married 26 April 1888 in Union County and
had 12 children, the last of whom died about two years ago. I have quite a
bit of information on this line as Alice is one of my Walkers. I do have a
death certificate for Carter.
Alice Elma Walker [scrapbook] was born on 4 Jul 1867 in TN. She died on 18 Jan 1957 in Claiborne Co., TN. She was buried in Carr Family Cemetery, Claiborne Co., TN. She married Dr. James Carter Carr on 26 Apr 1888 in Union Co., TN.
