Samuel Gammon Married Mary Moor. My paternal grandlparents are vague . As a small child I remember he ws in Marianna Florida the day the Yankees made the raid - they took him and carried him to Ship Island (Louisiana, Yankee Prison), and he died with measels. We never knew where he was buried. This couple had 2 children, William Pleasant Gammon (my father). He had one brother named John. He died in 1861. I was born the following June 1861. Uncle John and Aunt Eugenia Wood were to have been married in the fall of 1861. My grand mother was Mary Moor a granddaughter of an English Earl who came to America from England. My grandmother had 2 brothers, Henry and Robert. Henry Moor married Virginia Pritchard of Griffin, Georgia. He was poor while growing up to manhood. He wanted to study natural Philosophy, but had no money to buy the book, He borrowed the book one night to return the next A.M. He went through the book that night. Next day in class, he gave the entire book and was ever after called the boy who learned Natural Philosophy in one night. He was considered a brillant lawyer having an office both in Griffin, Georgia and New York City. I spent 3 months with Aunt Virginia (Pritchard Moor) after Uncle Henry died and it was in the summer of my vacation while attending school in Columbus, Georgia.
