Madison Newman immigrated from Holland and settled in Hillsborough, Kentucky in 1858. He was a carpenter and died at the age of 94.
John Newman moved from Kentucky to Missouri and was also a carpenter. He married Mary Yarbrough from Holland who died from Scarlet Fever when my Grandfather Madison Stone Newman was the age of 12. His second wife, Charlotte Morris was from New York. John was 86 when he died.

STONE NEWMANS WED 60 YEARS Mr. and Mrs. Madison Stone Newman of Gorin, MO., celebrated their 60th wedding anniversay with a party Feb 11 in their home.
Mr. Newman and the former Barbara Bergthold were married in the United Brethern Church parsonage in Gorin on Feb 13, 1917. (This was an error, they were married Feb 11, 1917)
Mr. Newman farmed near Gorin for several years and retired in 1963. The couple then moved into Gorin where they continue to keep their own home. Both have remained active.
Mr. Newman, who was 84 years old in January, enjoys gardening, raising chickens and fishing in nice weather. His wife, who will be 85 years old in September, has been giving piano lessons for 64 years. As of 1975, Mrs. Newman counted 2,075 piano lessons to 109 students. She has one pupil now. Mrs. Newman enjoys sewing and writes the Gorin column for the Kahoka Gazette newspaper.
The couple have six children, Wayne of Memphis, MO., Noland (name should be Nolan)of Hannibal, MO., Ronnie and Mrs. Arlis Taylor, both of Keokuk, Iowa. Mrs. Dean Buford of Gorin and Mrs. Wallace Hudnut of Lewistown, Mo. They have 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.The couple were honored with a card shower by the churches of Gorin
