1924News was received here last Friday of the death of Mrs Jesse Veasey at Paris.
Mrs Nellie Veasey, who moved to Paris with her husband and family a few days
ago and was staying with her sister, Mrs Griddle, on Austin Street, died at
11:45 at the Aikin hospital from blood poisoning. On last Sunday she picked a
blackhead pimple on her chin with a pin, and on Monday night a blister formed
and her face became inflamed and badley swollen. She was taken to the hospital
Thursday morning desperately sick with high fever. She received the best
medical attention and serum was administered to counteract the blood poison,
but the infection was so malignant that she did not respond to treatment at
all. She steadily grew worse until death relieved her intense suffering. She
was 26 years old and is survived by a husband and five children the oldest of
whom is 11 and the youngest 7 months.
Arrangements were made and Bird Cassey carried Mrs Bessie Barron, Mrs Bob Hunt
and Mrs Raymond Hightower over there. The burial was at Paris.Well you can see the obit says she was buried in Paris. I assume a city
cemetery there. I had read this before and wondered why she and her husband
were buried so far apart. But you kind of explained that in the story. The
husband moved back to Mt Vernon after the burial. Such a sad story. She was so
young.
