Dick Pound Died After a Long Illness
Dick Pound, 72, passed away at the family home in Emory late Saturday afternoon after being in ill health 18 years. He had suffered several strokes of paralysis, and been confined to his room most of this time. He had fallen at his home two months ago, breaking his leg, and had since been seriously ill.
Funeral services were held at the Emory Baptist Church at 3:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. M. R. Hancock of Tenneha. Interment was in the City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jack Cooper, Roy Turner, Earl Hill, Jimbo Jaggers, Will Cornelius, Calvin Jaggers, Dee Cooper, Charlie Calloway. Honorary pallbearers were Van Prather, G. W. Clements, John Sisk, Dwain Cooper, Gordon Hughes and Kirby Cooper.
Before his illness he was engaged in farming in the Prospect community and was active in community affairs. He was a member of the Prospect Baptist Church.
Besides his widow he is survived by two children, Mrs. Dale Hughey of Amarillo and Buster Pound of Dallas; one grandchild and the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Callie Rabe, Point; Mrs. Olma Giles, Emory; Mrs. Sallie Burton, Hillsboro; Mrs. Annie Hambrick, Rosebud; Mrs. Nannie Whitwell, Altus, Oklahoma; Tom Pound, Decatur; Bob and Jim Pound of Emory.

and six grandchildren. The Family asks that flowers be
omitted and donations be made to the United Methodist
